I’ve never been a big fan of shots myself but this one combines two of my favorite liqueurs so it’s a definite two thumbs up for me. The Baby Guinness Shot is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any other holiday, really. It’s a fun and great tasting shot.

Why is it called a Baby Guinness Shot?

While there is literally NO Guinness in this shot, the name doesn’t come from the inclusion of the popular stout but rather how the shot looks. The combination of Kahlua (to mimick the dark color of a stout beer) and the light Irish cream floating on top (to mimick the head of the beer) make it look like a tiny Guinness fit for a Leprechaun (or in our cases, a shot).

How to Make a Baby Guinness Shot

To get started, you’ll need a bottle of Kahlua (or another coffee flavored liqueur) and some Irish Cream. I’ve personally always preferred Baileys’ but if you have a different preference that’s OK too.

ingredients for a baby guinness shot - kahlua and irish cream

While it’s not a hard drink to make; given the fact that it’s two ingredients; the tough part comes when you float the Irish cream on top of the Kahlua.

To do this, place a spoon upside down and lightly pour the Irish cream over the spoon on top of the Kahlua, letting it slowly flow until it forms a thick layer that looks like the head of a beer.

Pouring the Irish Cream over a spoon to create a floating layer.

Once you’ve poured the layer on top, just pass them around and enjoy! Let me know in the comments below what you think.

Enjoy Responsibly!
