The elder of my two little hearts, also known as my children, or devils’ spawn, depending on my mood, spent the evening with his dad as I went in to work tonight.
I am sure you already know, if you read this blog, that we love Lego in this family and my son wanted nothing but Lego for Christmas.
I love Harry Potter.
My son loves to read Harry Potter.
I love that my son can read and talk to me about Harry Potter.
My nerdy joy in his reaching this developmental point in our geeky bonding over Harry Potter his education knows no bounds.
He can’t tie his shoes or count by twos, but dammit, he can read Harry Potter!
On a side note, he really can’t tie his shoes but definitely can count by two’s. I threw that in for all those parents who read Franklin the Turtle over…and over….and over to their littles.
We have almost the entire set of Harry Potter Lego that was released for the Deathly Hallows, I kid you not. He received Hogwarts, The Hogwarts Express and Freeing Dobby sets for Christmas.
I bought this for myself for him with his giftcards that his grandparents gifted him with.
The Burrows!
So after he completed the Star Wars set that my brother gave him, I guess he took this out this evening and left me a note telling me of his accomplishment.
“To Mom. Mom, you won’t belive this But’ i Did the First booklet of LEGO the burrow. hope you like my biulding.”
My heart couldn’t have melted more when I got home tonight.
I think I need to start a scrapbook of the little special notes he has started writing me including the pictures that go with them in cases like this.
It was worth going in to work tonight, just to see this note when I got home.
And I am gladly and safely home, and wish the same for everyone else tonight.
Have a fantastic New Years Eve everyone! I hope everyone is having a blast.
I am going to curl up with a mug of peppermint tea beside my husband, snuggle for a while, then be in bed well before it’s 2011.

I think I was in bed by 9:30. And I got the Franklin reference.
