Raise your hand if you have a household of Squishmallow lovers! Well, we certainly do, and I picked up a box of the Squishmallow cereal when Mike and I travelled to the States this month as a present for the kids. However, they are the children of a food blogger, so my daughter didn’t want to eat the cereal plain, she wanted to make them into cereal bars. And what a smart idea that was, these are a delicious cereal bar treat that are also absolutely adorable!

Why My Daughter Thinks You Will Love This Recipe!

  • These sweet treats are easy enough for kids to make in the kitchen (adult supervision and help is required with smaller kids) and are a great basic recipe for kids to start practicing their kitchen skills with.
  • The bars aren’t too sweet, the base cereal is just right, and the marshmallows add a gooey, chewy sweetness that can’t be beat.
  • These are just plain adorable and perfect for a Squishmallow themed party, or a tea party with your kids Squishmallow playmates around the table for company!

Where to Find the Cereal

This cereal is readily available at almost all stores in the USA (I found mine at Walmart) but a little harder to find here in Canada. It is available at Superstore here in Alberta (and other President’s Choice affiliated stores.) It is just available in Canada now at a normal cereal price, but I foresee it being on more and more shelves in the coming months.

How to Make The Top of the Bars Colorful and Pretty

When you open the box of cereal to make the bars, remove a large handful of the little colored marshmallow shapes. This way they won’t melt into the bars mixture. Once you have prepared the bars mixture and have spooned it out into the prepared pan, sprinkle the marshmallows shapes on top and then lightly press them into the top of the bars. You can see in the photos how you get the cute colors on top, it’s worth the small extra effort.

How to Store

Store these bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Do NOT refrigerate them or they will turn into rocks! It is better if you don’t freeze them, but if you need to, wrap them individually in cling wrap, then place the bars into another freezer safe bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. Then simple remove, defrost at room temperature and then enjoy.

I really hope that you enjoy these bars, my daughter is so excited to share this recipe with you! You do have to enjoy them properly, which includes getting out those Squishmallow toys for an adorable tea party with your kids, or having a Squishmallow themed party. Even if your kid is 19 😉

Happy baking!

Love,

Karlynn
