This Mincemeat Loaf recipe is one of the sleeper hits on this website. If you love mincemeat, then you’ll know why – mincemeat baked into a quick loaf is pretty much the best Christmas treat around! Slather it with butter and call is Christmas breakfast! You can also try my mincemeat cinnamon buns, those have a rum glaze for the adults!

Mincemeat Loaf

Mincemeat Loaf

I am a bad, bad wife this year. I didn’t make any mincemeat tarts for Mike at all. I think it might just be the first year ever in our marriage that I haven’t made him mincemeat tarts. I actually feel a little bit guilty that I didn’t get around to making his favorite treat that he gets only once a year. Between packing, cleaning, laundry, running around getting vehicles checked out and making a bazillion Christmas recipes for this website, I didn’t have time.

Actually, now that I typed out that sentence above my little niggling feeling of guilt completely vanished. Screw guilt.

Really though, sometimes I do get caught up in making recipes for this site that are NEW! EXCITING! WOWZA! and I completely forget about family favorites. It’s a very common thing when one has to constantly come up with new recipes for a living because making old recipes aren’t new content that can be posted.

I did, however, get around to using mincemeat this year and while it’s not tarts for Mike, he sure wasn’t complaining about this recipe. (and I mean really, when he starts to complain about his poor life being married to a food blogger is the moment when he gets a good solid kick to the…)

I decided one afternoon that what I needed was a mincemeat loaf. Why I decided that I had no idea, but it sounded like a good recipe idea at the time.

This is a very tame, not too sweet loaf that definitely tastes like mincemeat. The little bits of fruit are amazing in it and between Mike and Mr K this loaf disappeared.

I literally, no word of a lie, had one bite. Those boys of mine ate it up in two days between all the meals.

It may be obviously but I’m going to say it anyway, this is for people who like mincemeat. Don’t hate mincemeat then go and bake this and wonder why you hate this loaf. You have to enjoy mincemeat to enjoy this loaf.

Mincemeat Loaf

So are you a mincemeat lover or hater? I used to like it and to be honest I’m now on the fence. Sometimes one good, yummy mincemeat tart is the best thing I’ve ever eaten and then other times I can’t stand the smell of it. Weird, I know. Then again, I am a fruitcake lover too! Oh, next year when I’m not travelling I am making fruitcake! Real, rum soaked, boozy, maripan fruitcake! You can also try my Cream Cheese Glaze recipe if you want a tangier one!

I had been searching for a recipe for using leftover mincemeat after I had made my mince pies and stumbled across this recipe. After reading other comments I did reduce the sugar but otherwise followed the recipe. It was ready just in time to have a slice after supper. Hubby can’t stop raving about it. I’ve saved it for next Christmas when I know we will have leftover mincemeat again.5 stars

  2. Leslie says

could you substitute brown sugar for the white sugar? And plain yogurt for the milk? I have half a jar of mincemeat taking up space in my fridge so I would like to try this recipe. Thanks.

  3. Rita Schoeps says

I love mincemeat. Was looking for new recipes to use it in and found this site. Thank you. I now have new recipes besides my mincemeat filled sugar cookies and mincemeat oatmeal cookies. I give away my baking as gifts. Thanks again

  4. Nena Elliot says

This Mincemeat loaf is delicious and quick. I reduced the sugar, swapped milk for yogurt and butter for oil. I hate it when people change recipes too much, but it still turned out delicious!! This is also excellent sliced thinly with cheese, especially soft creamy ones.5 stars

Lol! When I figured out your husband is on college humor, I exclaimed to my husband about the guy who killed pat… he had to tell me to stop calling Sam Trap or Pat. Lmao, Grats hun on great food, family, and friends!

  6. Linda says

Way too much sugar. Each 1/4 cup of bottled mince meat has 48% daily allotment of sugar (42 grams) and you used 5 times that amount… to which you added 3/4 c white sugar. For a total of 92 grams per serving. So one slice is over the 51 grams you calculated.

  7. Becky says

I just found this recipe and baked the mixture in smaller pans for gifts. It was wonderful! I left off the glaze but next time I’ll add it and maybe some nuts. This is definitely a keeper!5 stars

  8. Linda says

Will make forever……. it is so good…..from my 5 year old grandson that does not like cakes etc this loaf gets a BIG thumbs up. Thanks for recipe5 stars

  12. Mary P Hoffman says

My dad would have loved this! My mother always made him a mincemeat pie at Thanksgiving and none of us would touch it! He was happy to have the whole thing to himself. 🙂

  13. Ka Lou Baker says

I read this as mince meatloaf. I thought you were putting mincemeat into a regular meatloaf, hahaha.

  14. SethMythrax says

I make a cheaper & quicker version of this. I use Bisquick & spoon in mincemeat & bake into a loaf.

Its basically mincemeat bread but so yummy & sweet……

  15. Holiday Baker Man says

This sounds like it has great holiday flavour!
