A few of my fall beauties, my gaillardia fanfare, above, actually went to seed last year, and I have about 6 plants that grew this year. However, they aren’t as healthy and large as the main one that I first planted. I re-read some information on them, and I have to cut them back hard this fall, which would mean almost to the ground, I guess. Hopefully then next year, they are better than ever. And I will be saving the seeds from these for sure!

One of my only normal colored sunflowers, the rest are the browns and red. I really enjoyed the ornamental ones this year, and will be planting more next year. The colors are so unique, and so gorgeous for fall.

My cosmos were a delightful surprise this year, they were a packet sent from our mortgage broker -his last name is Plant, so he has completely grasped the concept of smart marketing here-and I threw them into the corner of the garden bed that didn’t get enough sun for vegetables. They loved it there, are about a meter high and blooming so profusely. I think these will be an excellent filler next year, and I plan on scattering these in the bare spots in my flowerbeds. Of which there are quite a few.

There were about 4 or 5 different shades in the package, really beautiful.

Sadly, the weather is tuning colder now, much colder, and everything will soon be gone. However, that does mean it’s going to be garden bed reno time!
