A pull-apart loaf filled with gooey cheese and smoky bacon makes this a simple side to add to any dinner. While I did make it camping, this is something that you can make at home in the oven or even on your BBQ.

Bacon & Cheese Pull Apart Loaf

This bread can be prepared ahead of time with all the ingredients and put in the oven when ready to serve. This makes it great for camping or even taking over to a family BBQ to heat and eat!

Karlynn’s Tips

  • Mix in 1-2 tsp garlic powder into the butter. Easy garlic bread!
  • Leave out the bacon and add in some green onions for a fabulous vegetarian version. Plus garlic.
  • Make sure that you put ingredients in each slice. That way, every slice has lots of good filling.

How To Make This Loaf

It’s simple and quick to get this loaf prepared in your kitchen. You can even prepare this before your guests come over and throw it in the oven when you are ready to eat.

  • Preheat your BBQ, grill, or oven to 375. (you can also do this on the campfire!)
  • Get a large rectangle of tinfoil ready.
  • Without cutting all the way through, cut the loaf of bread into 12 equal slices, cutting to within 1/4 inch of the bottom.
  • Butter each slice in the bread (add mustard or garlic if wanted)
  • Tuck a piece of cheese and a piece of bacon into each slice.
  • Place the loaf on the center of the foil. Seal the edges, making sure to allow space for heat circulation and expansion.
  • Place foil-wrapped loaf on the grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and the loaf is hot.
  • To serve, open the packet carefully to allow steam to escape first, then proceed to serve.

Can I Make This Ahead Of Time

Yes, this is a great recipe you can prepare before the family comes home, or before the family BBQ. Just follow the recipe and keep it in the tin foil in the fridge until ready to bake. A great time-saving recipe for when you are in a hurry.

Happy Cooking

Love,

Karlynn

  1. Judith Barbiaux says

I have searched for this recipe forever. I used to make it with French bread, grating the cheese and adding mustard, then spreading between slices. I folded a slice of bologna in half and tucked it in where the bacon goes.4 stars

  2. Melanie Harmsma says

Looks amazing. Sans bacon for this vegetarian of course. Maybe sun dried tomatoes instead…

  3. Sabine Dumdei Vanderkley says

Hmm thanks karlynn! I might have to do a half n half loaf lol. Never thought about it but my Mr picky doesn’t like mustard either lol

  4. The Kitchen Magpie says

For kids I might leave the mustard out, I did because the Rose is SO picky! However I would love this with the mustard.

  5. Sabine Dumdei Vanderkley says

Cracker barrel has some great sliced cheese now in a few varieties! The kids and I r trying this tomorrow for sure!

  6. The Kitchen Magpie says

It’s not cheese slices, I should re-word that lol. It’s slices of cheese..real cheese. Cheese slices would be gross!

  7. Sharon Thomas says

Looks really good! Could it work using shredded cheese instead of cheese slices? I have an aversion to plastic cheese :/
