Sliced Red Pepper & Feta Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Did you know that April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Day? In my opinion, the not-so-humble grilled cheese needs an entire MONTH where we celebrate it. From last-minute dinners to the only thing my daughter would eat when she was 4, the grilled cheese sandwich is a household staple for my family.

I’ve happily partnered with Dempster’s again to bring you some new recipes featuring their products, and this time it’s all about having a #Breadventure. Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new, being a little more adventurous than usual.

What better way to try something new than changing up your normal grilled cheese?

While this is not the craziest grilled cheese out there, adding red peppers and herb feta cheese is probably going to make your kids do a double take. This is definitely going to challenge their taste buds and expand their taste horizons.

Those two cute little twerps above can be adventuresome with their eating but tend to stick to the safe side of food. Perhaps I should say three, as my husband hadn’t even tried curry until he was 30 years old! Root Beer, being a dog, will eat anything, so he doesn’t count and we all know that I’m always up for a culinary adventure!

These red pepper grilled cheeses are perfect to make while you are out camping, which is what we are doing in the photo above. You can make them on the campfire easily and the ingredients are ones that are simple enough to take with you. Jazz up your campfire menu, all it takes is some different cheese and some red pepper!

Outdoor adventures and new food adventures as a family, what could be better?

bread with sliced red pepper and cheese on top

I chose to make the red pepper and grilled cheese sandwich on Dempster’s white bread. There is something so nostalgic about a good, crispy white bread grilled cheese, it just takes me back to my childhood.

The herb feta is simply spectacular in this, and of course, you must have Mozza cheese as well, you need something to hold it together.

Take a gander at that sandwich.

That ooey, gooey deliciousness right there is why you need the mozza cheese as well as the feta cheese. This is the grilled cheese of your childhood, amped up for your adult tastes.

  1. Robyn Bellefleur says

My family’s #breadventure would be a grilled cheese sandwich made with brie and bacon. Great combo.

  2. Valerie Mallette says

My family’s #breadventure would be a classic grilled cheese with mushrooms and caramelized onions. My family is fairly adventurous when it comes to food.

  3. Jenny Ham says

Love different cheesy breads the red pepper one looks great

  4. Rebecca Roberts says

My bread venture would be to make some monkey bread! We’re not too adventurous but I do love baking, so this is on my list! I recently made my first batch of homemade bread as well 🙂 So yum!

  5. Judy Cowan says

My family is not adventurous when it comes to food, everyone prefers simple food. We tend to keep our grilled cheese simple, with just cheese. #breadventure for us would be adding some meat to the grilled cheese 🙂

  6. Debbie F says

They like to try everything – my son is a lover of brussel sprouts and lobster.

  7. Rhonda W G. says

We are big sandwich eatters here! My husband likes peanut butter, mayo and lettuce together…ugh. I have not been able to bring myself to try that yet.

  8. wendy hutton says

we love our grilled cheese with fresh sliced mushrooms in it

  9. Krista M says

A bit of both in our family! My son is not adventurous with food at all. But my daughter is the complete opposite & will seriously try anything, she’s a food risk taker! I’m kind of in the middle. When it comes to grilled cheese I will throw just about anything into it; any meat, any kind of cheese, & various types of bread!

  10. Yuen C says

My family is not really adventurous, we make the same sandwich every time.

  11. Lushka Smith says

I’d love to try out this sandwich as my #breadventure. I’m very adventuresome, I’ll try pretty much any food.

  12. Julie bolduc says

My children are not the adventurous eaters. The only one who is in my family is my hubby lol he will eat anything

  13. Andrea Amy says

My kids and I are not adventurous eaters. My youngest two are super picky (and eat what I describe as an abnegation diet from the movie Divergent). Neither one eat sandwiches really. My 9 year old is not so bad, but he still won’t eat anything that seems “weird”. I would definitely eat this sandwich myself though as I love feta and peppers.

  14. LILLIAN BROWN says

My family will try anything and especially love a sandwich with any type of cheese in it. #breadventure

  15. Marlene J says

Whatever is put on the table everyone eats. So I would say #breadventurenturise

  16. Maritess says

I consider myself lucky since my family is a adventurous when it comes to food and no allergies. We love our cheese and catsup on the side.

  17. ginette4 says

  18. Brenda Penton says

My kids are extremely picky when it comes to their sandwiches. My husband is a little adventurous. I am the one that is willing to try it all.5 stars

  19. em says

oh hubby tries everything! he knows if I’ll like it or not. he’s my taste tester lol

  20. Jolie says

My kids used to be extremly picky eaters. Now that they’ve grown up, they’re ready to try some things but are still quite picky.

  21. Joni says

There is nothing adventurous about my family’s eating. They what the same old. Poor you if you change it up a teeny tiny bit

  22. Heidi C. says

I wish that my kids were more adventurous when it comes to trying new foods/food combinations. I have to admit that, because of GI issues, i am the same way.

  23. Carole Dube says

We love to try new food! I would say my son is the #breadventure one!

  24. Maria Katie says

We love to try new foods and I would love to add ham or bacon to my grill cheese

  25. mongupp says

I’m the most adventurous eater in our family! I would definitely eat a feta grilled cheese sandwich.

  26. ivy pluchinsky says

I have one of those panini presses, so it makes a pretty decent grilled cheese sandwich! I love adding ham to mine! #breadventure

  27. Lisa L says

I am the more adventurous eater in the family, however everyone loves grilled cheese so I think spicing it up a bit would be no problem. I think a bacon and guacamole grilled cheese would be our family’s breadventure!
