Ok, while that’s not actually true, I really needed to share how easy it is to make pizzas on the campfire.

This is more of a how-to than an actual recipe, but I figured that maybe not all of us have thought, hey, let’s make the kids pizza over the campfire.

Campfire pizza is straightforward to make. You need pizza dough, pizza sauce, and toppings—and if you have a cast iron skillet, it’s even better. However, you can use any flat pan that you put on the fire or BBQ, so don’t think that the cast iron skillet is a make-it-or-break-it!

The key to making campfire pizza is to cook the crust first, flip it in the pan, and then add your sauce and toppings. There is nothing worse than gluey, undercooked pizza dough, and this method prevents it!

Happy camping AND cooking!

We ate this while camping in Big Bend National Park. It was a HUGE hit! I used scissors to cut the refrigerated dough in half and made two square pizzas. Cooked it on a cast iron skillet over a charcoal fire. Very little clean up! Perfect for camping. Will be making this in the future.5 stars
