The Singapore Sling is a cocktail I can remember my mother ordering when we went out for dinner. It’s a great, easy drinking cocktail that combines some very good flavors like pineapple and cherry. I decided now was the time to try my hand at this classic so here is my Singapore Sling recipe!

This also gave me an excuse to use one of my epic vintage partridge in a pear tree glasses. I absolutely love these and have the whole set including the holder.

Ingredients in a Singapore Sling

There are actually quite a few ingredients in a Singapore Sling cocktail. The classic ingredients are:

  • pineapple juice
  • grenadine
  • benedictine
  • gin
  • lime juice
  • cointreau
  • cherry brandy
  • angostura bitters.

How to Make a Singapore Sling

To make this Singapore Sling cocktail you will need the ingredients listed. You will also want a nice hurricane or Tom Collins glass.

  • Combine the ingredients in a Boston shaker with ice.
  • Shake until the outside of the shaker is cold to the touch.
  • Pour into the glass.
  • These drinks are meant to have the froth on top as you see in the picture above to don’t be alarmed once you’ve shaken yours and poured it.

Ingredients 

  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce Gin
  • 1/4 ounce Benedictine
  • 1/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 1/2 ounce Lime Juice
  • 1/3 ounce Grenadine
  • 1/2 ounce Cherry Brandy
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters

Instructions

  • Combine in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Pour over ice.

    Does this bring back memories!!! Right at 50 years ago I was a a Marine Lieutenant in South Vietnam. We were each given a one week R&R. I had chosen Australia but the regimental dentist jumped the line and i had a choice of Singapore or Taipei! I chose the former. You have no idea how a week away from combat can just be so good. Being in Singapore, I just had to try a SS, and again, etc. I am going to make this “most Ricky-tick” to use the jargon. Probably better than some of 5he bar drinks I had. Thanks for the recipe and bringing back the memories!
