The Shirley Temple drink is a classic mocktail that kids around the world love to enjoy. It’s also a great option for those who choose to abstain from alcoholic drinks.

What is in a Shirley Temple drink?

A Shirley Temple drink is made from two simple ingredients; ginger ale and grenadine. Some people choose to use other ingredients such as lemon lime soda with grenadine but the original version specifically calls for ginger ale.

What is Grenadine?

For those who are unfamiliar with grenadine, it’s a sweet bar syrup that is both tart and sweet. It’s normally made from pomegranate juice that has been sweetened with sugar.

Who invented it?

According to some, it’s believed to have been invented at a place called Chasen’s in West Hollywood, apparently to serve the same named child actress. In interviews, she exclaimed that she didn’t even like the drink and that it was too sweet.

Another popular mocktail is the Arnold Palmer drink which is similar in that it’s made of only two ingredients as well. If you like this one, I highly recommend checking out this mocktail as well.
