First, if you are a pastry snob, run away now. I accept my limitations, the main one being mostly my limited time, and there was no way I was making real puff pasty.
Perhaps one day. When I have a moment or two.
Like when my children leave this magpie’s nest. That’s a long time a’ comin’.
The reason that this is called Easy Apple Galette recipe because you use pre-made puff pastry.
Ever see the commercial with the sarcastic mom talking about making Artisan bread? Yah, that’s me with puff pastry at this point in my life.
Ingredients Needed:
1 10×10 sheet of puff pastry
2 apples, peeled and sliced thinly
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp ginger
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp white sugar
1 beaten egg to brush on outside
Kick the tires and light the fires to 375 degrees.
Slice those apples up!
Combine the melted butter and dry ingredients, then pour over the apples in a bowl. Make sure they are all evenly covered, then place in the middle of the pastry sheet. Fold the edges together like the picture below, making sure they stick.
The beauty of galettes is that they are supposed to be a rustic looking pastry, that is what makes them so fast! Uneven edges, not perfectly circular, these are all ok.
If you would like a lovely super, crispy browned pastry, brush the beaten egg over the pastry.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is beautifully browned like this. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then serve.
They are just so darn pretty looking, easy and perfect for company. Served with vanilla ice cream, they are a dessert made in heaven.
Just in time for those fall apples!
Try my apple pie cinnamon buns, apple cinnamon muffins or even my apple spinach salad for another way to use up apples! My apple refrigerator oatmeal is also a great breakfast.
Happy baking!
Love,
Karlynn

By ‘sheet’ do you mean the whole package or just one sheet? May seem a dumb question, but no one specifies, and I can’t imagine one sheet being strong enough for the fruit..I’ve made a galette in the past, but with regular pastry..Thank you..

I think she means one 10 x 10 sheet. Packages vary…some contain 2 sheets…some contain more. Hope this helps!
