What spirits can you use in an Apple Cider cocktail?

Lots of spirits pair well with Apple Cider but there are three types that stand out amongst the crowd; whisky, bourbon and rum. With this apple cider cocktail, you can use whichever you prefer but spiced rum and bourbon are the most common. What’s nice about this is you can have this cocktail more than once; each time with a different spirit to see which one you prefer!

How do you make an Apple Cider Cocktail?

This cocktail is very easy to make, simply add your spirit of choice (or use my measurements from the recipe card at the bottom of the post) into a glass with crushed ice or ice cubes and top with apple cider. Plop in a cinnamon stick to add a bit of flavor and garnish with an apple slice. There you have it, the perfect fall cocktail for yourself or to serve at your next gathering with friends / family. If you love fall cocktails, try my Maple Rosemary Bourbon Sour or my Cranberry Whiskey Sour.

What type of Apple Cider should I use?

I personally am a fan of Strongbow due to it’s tartness but other ciders such as Angry Orchard, etc will work as well.  When it comes to cider, there are plenty of choices. You don’t want to use more than about 4-6 ounces of cider in the glass, however, otherwise you will really water down the hard liquor and the tastes won’t compliment each other as well.

Hope you enjoy this one! Let me know which spirit you prefer in the comments below.
