Italian seasoning is the seasoning mix that I use more than anything else in my kitchen, without a doubt. I use it all the time in soups and most recently made a batch of homemade seasoning to use in my Italian dressing when I made an Italian sub. This seasoning also goes very well with my Grilled Zucchini, Alphabet Soup, Stuffed Pepper Soup or Tomato Cream Sauce!
This spice mix will last for months, so make a large batch and season away! I copied the exact ingredients that are on my bottle of store-bought Italian seasoning mix to make sure I have the right ones!
Homemade Italian Seasoning Mix
This is one spice mix that I will forever keep in my pantry from now on. I honestly have three bottles of it in my cupboard, and won’t be buying anymore! At $5-$6 a bottle, investing in the spices listed below as a one-time purchase is going to keep me in Italian seasoning for years now!
Herbs and Spices in Italian Seasoning
These are the spices that are listed on my favorite bottle of Italian seasoning that I copied. These are all readily available in stores, usually even in the cheap plastic packets of spices. And no, there is NO garlic in Italian seasoning! You always add fresh garlic in the recipe you are making anyways, so it makes sense that it’s not in here.
- oregano
- basil
- rosemary
- marjoram
- sage
- thyme
- savory

More Homemade Seasoning Mixes
Try these for homemade when you don’t want to use store-bought!
You have two choices when making this, you can put it all in a food processor and grind it up until it’s more powdery, or you can use it as-is. I don’t mind rosemary being larger in my seasonings, but you can grind it all up if you prefer!
Hope you enjoy!
