This easy and delicious buffalo wings recipe means you no longer have to order expensive takeout wings! These wings are deep fried and tossed in a buffalo butter sauce – just like your favorite pub.
Don’t worry, we will have a baked buffalo wings recipe coming up soon, and an air fryer chicken wings recipe as well. This recipe is for those that take their bar-style buffalo wings seriously! Which means that you need a deep fryer for this recipe.

Classic Buffalo Wings
Takeout orders during 2020 have skyrocketed for every household, ours included, and the one thing that I noticed is that wings are SO expensive to order, but are my favorite Friday night treat with a cold beer. Karlynn and I finally decided that we had spent too much money on takeout buffalo wings, and it was time to invest in a good deep fryer. I did my research and we ended up buying this Tfal one.
We have already got our money back from the small investment in the fryer once we stopped ordering restaurant wings. Not only that, we can customize the amount of buffalo sauce to what we prefer.
If you love pub style buffalo wings, consider a deep fryer.
What do I Need to Make Buffalo Wings?
You’re going to need four things. Buffalo wings don’t have a batter on them, so it doesn’t get easier than this (also, they are a great option if you are on a low carb diet too!).
- chicken wings
- buffalo sauce
- deep fryer
- oil for deep frying
How to Serve Buffalo Wings
Karlynn and I are polar opposites on this matter. I think she eats hot wings so that she can have blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing. I don’t even know if she likes the actual hot wings, but she loves drowning them in the blue cheese dressing. Here’s a few different ways to eat them (and on a side note, does anyone actually ever eat the vegetables with them?)
- Plain.
- Blue cheese crumbles on top
- Blue cheese dressing for dipping
- Ranch dressing for dipping
- Always with carrot and celery sticks
- Cold beer. Nothing beats this for a pairing.
It’s Cheaper to Make Your Own Wings
It’s definitely a lot cheaper to make your own wings at home and we will continue to do so from now on. We’re kinda ruined for restaurant wings – though we sure miss the ambiance of a good pub, with wings, beer and friends. Soon, my friends, soon!
- To save even more, stock up on chicken wings with a bulk package, then split them into packages of one or two dozen. Place them into freezer safe bags and freeze for up to 3 months. (you will eat them before that)
- Buy on sale! Scan the flyers and then buy a ton and freeze and save those pennies.

Buffalo Wings
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter melted
- 4 tbsp Frank's Red Hot Sauce
- 24 chicken wings
Instructions
- Preheat deep fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Check to see the max # of wings you can make at one time in your deep fryer. Our is around 30 so 24 is safe but yours may vary.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pyrex dish or bowl in the microwave (about 30 seconds).
- Add 4 tablespoons of Frank's Red Hot sauce to the butter and stir well. Set aside.
- Place 24 chicken wings in the deep fryer and cook for 10-13 minutes (depending on how crispy you want them), stir them once or twice to prevent sticking.
- Once they are done to your liking, drain them on paper towels and place into a bowl. Pour the hot sauce / butter mixture on top and toss the wings until covered completely.
- Serve.
- Do NOT eat right away. Let them sit for 1-2 minutes before chowing down. This lets the mixture soak in and "set" and you'll appreciate that the wings soak up a lot of the mixture and are less messy after 1-2 minutes of resting.

You must try Old Bay hot sauce instead of Frank’s. It is sooo good.
