Dad with the kids sitting in the bench with lighted Santa and snowman

It isn’t officially open to the public until Friday, November 19th, but Mike and I took the kids, grabbed a hot chocolate and toured the house.

And it’s not because I got a special tour. I um, kinda just showed up with the family in tow while Jerry Dolynchuk tested things out. (click that link for a great article on him and the house).

Whoops.

He was goodnatured when I apologized for just showing up and said it wasn’t a problem.

I don’t want to give anything away, but so much has been changed around and I am so excited to go back again.

I am certain Snoopy is new. I love him. I want him.

The mailbox opens and closes and Woodstock is inside.

A while new world of cute has just been discovered here, people, and a whole new world of financial pain for my husband.

Another view without giving too much away. It is so, so big, look at how far away my family is from me!

Have you all been there, my dear readers? This house is a wonder to behold and also raises money and takes donations for the foodbank. Santa shows up on selected days-the schedule is usually posted there- and nothing gets me feeling Christmasy like this house does.

It has been a cherished tradition for our family, this being the fourth year we will go! And go many, many times before the Christmas season is over.

It has reached the point where my son has memorized his favorite things and looks for them yearly, his absolute favorite being the train going round and round in one of the window displays.  When we went early, the displays weren’t done yet and he promptly had the most crushed little boy look on his face that I have ever seen. The tears started to well up and I hurriedly told him that the displays would be up in a week. Crisis averted!

Yes, a whole side of the house is dedicated to window displays that are better than any department store could try to do. In fact, perhaps that is why I love them so much, it reminds me of what stores in the past might have done at Christmas time, amazing dioramas of trains and Santa’s and so much more.

The house is located at 9619 – 144 Avenue, Edmonton and if you do nothing else this Christmas, go and check it out.

You cannot even fathom how many lights there are and how long you can look and how wonderful it all is.

I will be taking my out of town company this Saturday night after the Star Wars soiree and I think I might be more excited than the kids to go back and check out the finished work!

This is right by my house! We’ve admired it from the road so many times.
I’m not really in the Christmas spirit yet,I’m thinking a special visit here will cure me of that:)
