Beans aren’t just confined to filling out chilies or as a side dish. They can also be used to make a spicy, tangy, and rich bean dip using homemade taco seasoning.

Quick and Easy Bean Dip
Bean dip is not the most appetizing of names for what is, in actuality, one of the greatest party dips ever created.
While the majority of the deliciousness comes from cream cheese, sour cream, and various cheese, the addition of the right kinds of taco seasoning mix and plenty of refried beans makes a dip that is thick, unctuous, and super tasty.
Serve this with some tortilla chips or those handy tortilla scoops that you can sometimes buy – they make it really easy to get the largest amount of dip possible into your mouth.

How To Season This dip Yourself
This recipe calls for the use of a packet of taco seasoning mix, the kind that you would find at the supermarket alongside those ready packets of Mexican food.
However, if you are looking for a little bit more flavor in your dip, you can make your own seasoning blend!
Most taco seasoning blends are a mixture of cayenne powder, cumin, paprika, and salt, with just a touch of MSG for flavor.
You can simply replicate this, adding more or less of each powder as you go to suit your own tastes.
However, to really amp up the flavor of your dip, try grinding the spices yourself after toasting them!
First, measure out an amount of your desired seasoning, say a teaspoon of cumin seeds to start, and then gently toast them in a dry pan.
After they start smelling amazing (but before they start to smoke!), take them out and grind them in a mortar and pestle or a spice blender, and then mix them with the other seasonings and salt. This small step makes any seasoning taste way better and the whole dish taste brighter and fresher.
How To Vary The Dip’s Flavor
The flavors in this dip are definitely very bean and cheese forward; the cream cheese and sour cream give all the richness, and the rest of it is some mildly spicy beans and tangy cheese, as well as however much hot sauce you put in.
To vary it up a little bit, try swapping some of the cheese for other types of cheese, so long as they melt easily. Or, stir in some Rotel tomatoes or salsa to give it a more tomato flavor.
You can also add in some ground beef or sausage, about ½ lbs worth, gently fried until browned, before mixing into the whole mixture and baking in the oven.
Play around with the flavors and see what works for you!
