Beer Glazed Beef Ribs

Beef ribs are nowhere near as popular as regular pork ribs, and though the collective cow population is probably pretty happy about that, it is a shame that so many people never get the chance to experience the incredible amount of flavor in a good rack of beef ribs.

With a rich, flavorful glaze and enough time on the grill to render all the fat and turn the connective tissue into delicious gelatin, this recipe for some properly cooked beef ribs might just be the thing to convince you to finally break out the BBQ.

Could You Use Pork Ribs?

The first question that most people are going to have surrounding any kind of rib recipe involving something other than pork ribs is: can you use pork ribs instead?

As hard as the beef industry tries, no one will ever deviate from their trusted rack of baby back ribs.

So, could you just use some pork ribs in this recipe instead of beef?

Well, since this recipe is more of building a flavor base for the glaze, you could absolutely substitute some pork ribs in place of your beef.

You would need to keep in mind the fact that the temperature requirements would certainly change, as well as how long you should cook it for.

Plus, this glaze is definitely geared more towards using beef, as the flavors will be more complimentary to the more grassy beefiness of some good beef ribs, but it’s up to you.

If you really can’t imagine enjoying some beef ribs instead of pork, have at it!

Beer Vs. Beef Broth, Will The Difference Be Noticeable?

This recipe gives you the choice of using a can of whatever beer you prefer, or an equal amount of beef broth, to form the liquid component of this recipe.

The keen observer will notice that beer and beef broth are pretty dissimilar ingredients, and should produce pretty significantly different dishes, depending on which one you choose.

So which one is right for you?

Well, the thing to remember is that both of the two options are pretty much entirely water, so the main difference you can expect will be a difference in subtle, background flavor.

If you use beef broth, you can expect a more savory, richer profile, with maybe a bit of a fuller mouth feel in every bite.

Using beer, meanwhile, will provide this really interesting, unctuous creaminess, as well as a touch of bitterness depending on how hoppy the beer you chose was.

Which one you pick is more about what you prefer your ribs to taste like. If you want a beefier, more savory option, go for beef broth. However, if you want that little bit of extra complexity and bitterness, then you should reach for a can of your favorite beer.

How To Cook Your Ribs If You Don’t Have A Barbecue

This recipe has you cook your ribs on a preheated BBQ, which is the ultimate outdoor cooking apparatus, not to mention one of the best ways to imbue your meat with a ton of flavor.

Not everyone has a BBQ, however, and the weather isn’t exactly always suitable for outdoor grilling either. So what should you do if you don’t have a BBQ?

Well, ribs are obviously best on the grill, but there are other options.

The best option would be to just cook them under the broiler in your oven.

The only thing you need to keep in mind is that most broilers in home ovens can get insanely hot and have a tendency to burn if you aren’t being careful.

You might find it easier to instead cook your ribs in the oven, and then finish them under the broiler to give them that nice char and little bits of browned goodness at the end.

What Kinds Of Salads Should You Serve With Your Beef Ribs?

Whenever a recipe encourages you to serve it with a great salad, there is always that temptation to serve it alongside a simple, boring vinaigrette and lettuce leaves and call it a day/

However, there are actually all kinds of different delicious salads that you could pair with your beef ribs, so here are a few suggestions for you to expand your palate.

The simple Caesar salad is just above some lettuce and vinaigrette when it comes to complexity, but you can always just buy some simple Caesar dressing and create a delicious salad in minutes!

Cucumber and tomato salad is a surprisingly simple salad considering how complex its name sounds. You really just need to combine some finely chopped cucumbers and tomatoes in a bowl with some lettuce and a simple dressing to make a bright and fruity salad perfect for serving with your ribs!

Finally, a good potato salad pairs well with almost anything served on a BBQ. Whether you buy it or make it yourself, potato salad offers a ton of creamy goodness that complements all meat, no matter what animal it is from.
