I like meatloaf.
I LOVE this meatloaf sauce. This meatloaf sauce has turned me into a meatloaf lover. It’s the perfect blend of sweetness that has a savory punch from spices and Worcestershire sauce and coats homemade meatloaf like my stove top stuffing meatloaf perfectly. You could use this on meatballs as well and it would be fantastic. I can’t wait to make meatloaf again and use this sauce!
Meatloaf Sauce
I’m not sure how many of you are meatloaf fans like I am but sometimes the sauce on the meatloaf can be either overpowering or not tasty enough to add to the overall enjoyment of the meatloaf. With this new recipe of mine, I’ve discovered what I consider to be the perfect combination of ingredients for the perfect sauce. Once I tried this, I was blown away and am confident you will be too.
Preparing the Meatloaf Sauce
Preparation is pretty straight forward. Here’s a list of the spices and other ingredients you will need for this sauce.
- Wet Ingredients: Ketchup, White Vinegar, Mustard, Worcestershire Sauce.
- Dry Ingredients: Brown Sugar, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Salt, Pepper.
Sauce Variations
You can easily change up the ingredients in this recipe to come up with the perfect blend for your tastes, just alter the ingredient amounts until you’ve come up with a taste that you prefer!
Use more brown sugar for a sweeter sauce or less for a more savory sauce.
Adjust the garlic and onion powder to your liking as well. This is so easy to change up!
How Long Will This Sauce Last?
Homemade sauces have a bit of a reputation for not lasting particularly long in the fridge, but this sauce is a little bit different. Seeing as how the main ingredients are acidic or sweet, it can last quite a long time if you treat it right. Stored properly, your homemade meatloaf sauce can easily last up to around a week or two.
How to Store Meatloaf Sauce
After using it the first time, make sure to completely cover it with plastic wrap, or store it in an airtight container; the key thing is to keep air from touching any part of your sauce. Keep checking it for any signs of mold or separation, which would be a sure sign of it starting to expire.
More Great Sauces and Marinades
For all of you meatloaf lovers, I want to know what you think of this recipe! This is such a great recipe to play around with the ingredient amounts and adjust it to your liking This would also be great on a turkey meatloaf as well, it is such a versatile sauce.
Happy Cooking!

Oh my word woman!!! I tasted this sauce and I kept tasting it, and tasting it, and after I realized that I took a literal teaspoon of it straight to the mouth, I had to push it away!!! Next time, I’m doubling the recipe so I have enough sauce for sides of the meatloaf and to serve with it. Yum!

I am so glad you loved it! This is the only sauce I’ll ever use again! Thanks for letting me know!

This recipe was really good. I put a very light glaze on meat loaf while baking and served remainder on the side. This would also be great in grilled chicken.

OMG this is literally the best sauce to use for a meatloaf. My mistake was not making more to serve along with the meatloaf, because I will never go back to plain ketchup again. Delicious!!!
