Saint Patrick was a missionary from the 5th century in Ireland. He was also a Bishop in the country. His primary role in Ireland was to convert the Irish to Christianity and he is known to have converted thousands of people in the country. There are, of course, plenty of legends surrounding the man, many of which are covered in this great video by the National Geographic channel.
