Everyone needs a good cinnamon roll icing glaze recipe that they can depend on time and time again. However let’s not forget that you can use this icing glaze on homemade Danishes or any pastry that you whip up at home!
Basic & delicious cinnamon roll icing glaze recipe
This is a pretty basic icing glaze recipe, consisting of only 4 ingredients! It’s not fancy but it is one that you need to have in your back pockets at all times. The real secret to what makes this glaze delicious is the salted butter! A really good icing glaze shouldn’t be just milk and icing sugar, you aren’t going to get a icing glaze that cracks and crackles. It’s the melted butter that is going to give you that crust on your icing and not have it super sticky.
Now of course when you drizzle this cinnamon roll icing glaze on warm cinnamon rolls, they aren’t going to really harden up and be all crackly. This icing will be the best on danishes and other pastries that you don’t eat warm or hot, you’ll really see how it cracks and hardens up!

The ratio of liquid to sugar is way off. It might work with 4 Tbs or more likely 4oz but not 4 tsp.

I made this recipe today, and it tastes great. But I wanted a glaze for a Bundt cake, and this recipe made enough for six Bundt cakes. Next time for one cake I will make a third of the recipe. 4 cups of confectioner sugar makes a whole Lotta frosting.

I made the icing today for some blueberry biscuits and it was absolutely delicious! The best icing recipe I’ve found thus far. My only question is can leftovers be refrigerated and still used another day?

There are many frostings out there for cinnamon rolls, but this one was the best that I’ve found. I am dairy free and used your recipe with my dairy free substitutions. It was fabulous! Instead of butter, I used Melt Organic, and to replace the cream, I used Canned Coconut cream that I get from Trader Joes. I used the same amounts. Thanks for a great recipe! No one who ate my gluten free dairy free cinnamon rolls knew they were not wheat. The frosting did the trick!
