What’s the difference between a piano and a fish?
You can tune a piano, but you can’t tuna fish!
Ba-dam ba-bum!
This post is so very picture heavy because at the same time I plan the 2013 Culinary Arts Cook Off, deal with our basement being finished and the ensuring problems and drama, try to live stress-free in a very cluttered house due to the contents of the basement being strewn about every room possible, run two websites, start delving into allergen free recipes and add in planning some projects that have yet to be confirmed…
…I also am taking online photography classes every Monday morning. Really, there must be better forms of self punishment than this?
I’m amazed I sleep. I don’t think I do, however because now I have reached the time of year where I can’t sleep because I’m thinking about the cook off and constantly thinking of what has to be done the next two months.
My parents took mercy upon me and bought the kids a piano, which has been on my to-do list since we put up the shelving in the reading room. My dad took over all the research, searching and planning and found us one. It had to be an exact size and non-intrusive style and he was lucky enough to find one in St Albert last week for us.
This room is not cluttered.
This room brings me peace amongst the storm that my house is right now. I think if I didn’t have a serene place to relax, I might snap. One day if I am brave enough, I’ll share the horror pictures that the rest of my house is.
The Princess and I were home alone this afternoon waiting for the piano movers to bring the finishing touch to the reading room and she played on it forever once it came.
I still think my Dad and Mike can’t get over the fact that I put a piano here instead of a TV. I admit, it would have been a great place for one.
So we did a photo shoot as part of my homework for class, working on exposure.
I’m very fond of this one. It could be framed and put right above the piano!
Her socks today killed me, the red and the purple pants. Love it.
This was later on, she came back to play again after playing dress up for a while. I adore this picture.
This one I almost had…which is worse than missing it completely. I was so darn close to nailing the exposure on it.
So a huge thank to my parents for taking over finding a piano, buying it for us and generally spoiling us all rotten. I am very excited to start re-learning piano myself, at one time I could play so well, but it’s a skill so easily lost when you don’t play for years due to having kids and generally being to busy to play.
I think I’ll cut myself some slack and plan that for after the cook off and ensuing March Madness that is forthcoming.
Speaking of madness, we are off to two birthday parties today, almost one after another! Oy, it never rains but it pours, but at least it means we are loved, I guess. Or the kids are. I’ll take that.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Did you do custom built cabinets, or did you order these shelves/cabinets from somewhere? I love the look and have been trying to find something similar.

I love what you’ve done to the living room. It looks spacious, modern and chic. Great job. Definitely pin worthy!
